When you come to college for the first time and you're separated from your best friends for a while, you start to realize how much they actually mean to you. You might find yourself constantly bringing up their names in conversations, or daydreaming about the good times you've had with them throughout the years... or maybe that's just me...
The first time I met Vanessa was my second day of classes at Syracuse University. It's only obvious that as a transfer student I hadn't made a lot of friends yet. And since I knew how warm and welcoming most of the girls at SU were, I'm sure anyone could imagine my shock when Vanessa unexpectedly leaned over to compliment my jacket. Overjoyed with excitement I started to tell her how I purchased it for a small price of $30.00 via Target. She then quickly reassured me that I shouldn't tell people that....From then on I knew we would be home girls.
Every time we were together she'd always talk about her friends from home. One in particular...Cassia. It was always "Cassia this" "Cassia that". And I'm like ok...I get it. Who is this chick anyways? She would tell me that Cassia was some type of good singer, and me being the fool I was I didn't think much of it, until she showed me a video that she had secretly recorded of Cassia singing. I was immediately blown away and wanted to hear more.
I was fortunate enough to meet Cassia when she came to visit for a weekend, and I can easily say that she's one of the realest girls I've ever met. She's got an original sense of style and girlfriend doesn't mess around. She tells it how it is and to be honest, that's the way it should be. I feel so fortunate that I can call Cassia a friend. Not only because she's not like most girls, but especially because she means so much to a good friend of mine. As if she couldn't be any more talented, Cassia not only writes her own songs, but she composes them as well. And although I haven't heard a lot of her music I can say that if you like reggae/pop/jazz then you'll love her latest single "Bipolar".
Yes, yes, I know listening to this now it sounds amazing, but hearing her sing in person is a different kind of experience. And you can buhhleeeee dat! If you like this song and want to stay updated on Cassia, show girlfriend some support and like her artist page on facebook and/or update yourself on her website. And if you don't like it... then do what I say anyways because I said so.
The moral of the story is that you should all recognize how much your good friends from home mean to you, as well as appreciate your friends good friends from home..... if that makes any sense. Oh and also purchase Cassia's new single on iTunes, because it's poppin and its only 99 cents. Mad cheap!!
Ok I'm out.
This post was fab.
