The Other Rautins

I'm sure you've all heard about Syracuse University's star basketball player Andy Rautins.
You may recognize him from his long court promising 3 pointers, or his gelled slicked locks...

Anyways knowing that he is the legacy of Leo Rautins (former SU and 76ers player, first Canadian EVER to be drafted in the first round of the NBA, and to record a triple-double in Big East play... not really a big deal) it would only be natural for us to expect his son to inherit the same amount of ballin genetics his father has. ( thanks to ESPN always sweating this out during every game...)
Yes Andy was fortunate enough to have these skills passed on to him. But what about the other Rautins?

As many of you don't know, Andy has three other brothers.
Two of them (youngest and oldest) are equally athletically talented.
Somewhere in the middle of all the basketball spotlight stands Jay Rautins.

Jay happens to be a very dear friend of mine.
As my third time being the "new girl" he was one of my first friends transferring school districts.
I didn't know much about Jay, but I did know that we both had one thing in common. We never missed a basketball game.
I asked him why he came to all of the games... I just figured he and his family were big fans... I didn't know he had a brother...
Getting to know Jay better It wasn't difficult for me to see that he wasn't as equally talented in basketball as his brothers, but he definitely had something that none of them else had.

He may not  be a star athlete, but he's got an amazing eye, and a great appreciation for art.
In high school jay excelled in photography. He was honored by Scholastic Arts with a silver key, and was most definitely big shit in the photography department.
His work has always been very unique and eye catching, I am constantly inspired by it.
I was even lucky enough to model for him, it was an honor to be a part of his work.

Jay is currently a Pre-Med stuent at McMaster University.
He is working as the school's Sports Photographer, and Graphic Design Assistant.
His photos have been featured in local papers such as the Hamilton Spectator, while a lot of his work is displayed on McMaster's athletic site.
He has also done work for Vyana Yoga where his upcoming advertisements will be shown in the monthly newsletters.

Obviously the Rautins family distributes a great amount of talent, but it's not all about basketball.
This is just a small part of what makes Jay just as talented as his siblings, and I think it's time for everybody to recognize the otha brotha... ya feel me?
